Are there plans for the ERT?

There are no plans to reconstruct the ERT at this time.

The Draft MTP includes an item that looks to explore the feasibility of reconstructing the ERT to accommodate vehicle traffic AND a separated multi-use pathway within the lifetime of the 10-year plan. Campbell River is a growing community and 10 years from now the City may need a new north-south connector as Quinsam Heights and the surrounding area continues to grow. By including this as an action item the City can explore this concept within the next 10 years by monitoring population levels, traffic impacts, etc. If this item was pursued, it would involve extensive public engagement and outreach.

    What happens now?

The City is in the final Phase 3 of the Master Transportation Plan and will shortly bring this Plan to Council.  There has been a robust public engagement process which included open houses, surveys and a project advisory team.

How do the Master Transportation Plan and the Quinsam Heights Transportation and Growth Study relate to the Quinsam Heights Neighbourhood Plan?

The Master Transportation Plan and the Quinsam Heights Transportation and Growth Study focus on growth forecasting, multi-modal connectivity, and infrastructure improvements to support long-term transportation development, particularly in Quinsam Heights.  This directly supports the Quinsam Heights Neighbourhood Plan's objectives of accommodating diverse housing options, integrating transportation and land use, and preserving environmental features.  These initiatives all aim to ensure that future growth in Quinsam Heights is supported by a safe, efficient transportation network and adequate servicing capacity.
