The City of Campbell River is redesigning its main website (http://www.campbellriver.ca/) and affiliated sites to better serve the community. The new site will be:
Accessible and compliant with modern standards
User-friendly for residents, businesses, and visitors
Up-to-date with current technology and best practices
Why This Matters
The current website, launched in 2013, no longer meets the City's needs. A modern site is essential for:
Providing accurate, reliable information
Offering online services like bill payments, license renewals, and development applications
Ensuring accessibility for all users
Community Involvement
Public feedback helped shape the new site. Engagement, including surveys, user testing, and reviewing best practices from other municipalities, was collected and incorporated throughout this project.
Project Timeline
The new City of Campbell River website launches on October 16, 2025. The new website looks to be easy to navigate and users should not see a disruption in service. All necessary information will be available on the new site and it will be accessible in the same place. If you experience any issues:
Visit the City’s homepage (www.campbellriver.ca) and navigate to your required page from there.
Watch the Live or recorded webcast on October 21, 2025, where staff will present the new website to the public and Council.
Background
The City must have a means of providing accurate, reliable, and up-to-date information to the public. The website is one of the City’s key communication tools that allows community members and visitors to connect with the City and stay informed from any location at any time. The City website provides information and access to services such as license renewals, bill payments and planning and development services.
The current website was launched in October 2013 and has now reached the end of its effective life. Accessibility requirements and technology advancements further the need to replace the City's aging site.
Engagement, including surveys, user testing, and reviewing best practices from other municipalities, was collected and incorporated throughout this project.
The City website replacement is scheduled to be completed in 2025.
