About This Project

The City of Campbell River is moving forward on critical upgrades to services along Erickson Road. Beginning in spring 2026, water and storm service infrastructure will be replaced between Nature Park Drive and Larwood Creek crossing. See below for the latest news about the project, including traffic disruptions and progress updates.

Project Description

Beginning spring 2026 (estimated) the City will begin a significant project to replace water lines along Erickson Road that have reached the end of their operational life. Here’s what you need to know:

  • Work will occur roughly between just west of Nature Park Drive to the Larwood Creek crossing.
  • Water infrastructure will be replaced to address aging and expand for growth.
  • The City will also upgrade stormwater infrastructure to current standards while the construction is underway.
  • Upgrades to the surface of Erickson Road (sidewalks, multi-use path, lighting) will be completed if grant funding is awarded. The City is seeking funding now.
  • Single-lane alternating will be in place for the duration of the work.
  • The City will work with BC Transit and waste collection to maintain service.
  • The project is supported by the Government of Canada's Canada Community-Building Fund.

We are working to keep you informed of the plan ahead - check back here for updates along the way!

You previously had Martin road in this project but I don’t see it anymore. Has that been canceled?

Hello Linton. Upgrades to Martin Road are considered in a future phase of this project. The critical works right now - upgrades to water and stormwater infrastructure - are being prioritized for the available budget. Future phases, including Martin Road, will proceed as budget becomes available.
