Key Step Forward for Erickson Road Renewal Project

Tender posted for contractor to complete underground utility upgrades

Critical upgrades are on their way for water and stormwater services on Erickson Road – with a tender for a construction contractor now posted.

This marks a key step in the City of Campbell River’s Erickson Road Renewal Project, which will address necessary replacement of infrastructure that is currently at the end of its serviceable life.

“This is an important project for everyone who relies on this key water service and means improved reliability for all moving forward,” said Grant Parker, Director of Operations. “We look forward to working with a contracting team that can deliver this effectively.”

About the Project

The Erickson Road Renewal Project includes the replacement of underground water and storm water infrastructure that is at the end of its serviceable life. Work will be completed between Larwood Creek crossing and just west of Nature Park Drive.

• The first phase of the project will focus on the underground utilities’ replacement, with plans to restore the roadway to its current condition and infill sidewalks into sections where they don’t currently exist.

• The City is also proactively pursuing grants funds that would allow for further surface improvements in future phases of work. The next phase could include surface improvements such as sidewalks, multi-use path, curbs and improved lighting.

• Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026 and continue for 9 to 12 months.

• Commuters and residents should expect single-lane alternating traffic throughout the construction period.

Keeping Informed

The City is committed to keeping residents and commuters informed about the project ahead. An engagement page has been created for the project and can be found at getinvolved.campbellriver.ca/Erickson-renewal.

The City will share more information about traffic impacts, schedules, local impacts and more when it is available. Watch for more updates in the months ahead.
